While the solar industry focuses mainly on electrical generation, nearly half of U.S. energy is used for thermal applications - space heating, cooling, ventilation, water heating and industrial processes. Solar heating and cooling (SHC) technologies meet these heating/cooling needs directly using reliable, time-tested equipment and proven designs with documented success worldwide. The SHC Alliance, a division of Solar Energy Industries Association, invites SHC stakeholders to attend this session to gain strategic information about the latest:
• What's the latest in California's SHC market?
• District heating - U.S. poised for breakthrough?
• SHC - a new profit center for solar businesses?
Join Pam for a version of her signature workshop, the Soft Cost Treasure Hunt, from 11:25-12:25!

This conference will explore California’s massive commitment to the greening of its electricity sector. The policy is set. California will be fully reliant on renewable energy – solar, wind and hydro for half of its electric power – by 2030. The state’s utilities must buy 1,325,000 megawatts of storage by 2020 – the first state energy storage mandate in the United States.
As distributed energy gains steam in California, state regulators, policymakers, utilities and DER providers are shaping the rules, regulations, and markets that will ensure the transition is speedy and smooth. It’s a complex, exciting landscape, and today’s actions in California will undoubtedly influence tomorrow’s DER market across the country. We’ll be combining More Than Smart's CDEF network with GTM’s distributed energy market expertise. In addition, More Than Smart will be holding a half-day workshop on State Distribution Grid Planning for all those interested in starting, managing or enabling a distribution grid planning exercise like California’s in other states.
In BERC's 10th year, the Energy Summit will look at the next 10 years in energy development, where we are heading, and what needs to be done to get there. The Summit will feature a keynotes from CEC Commissioner David Hochschild and a fireside chat between Nancy Pfund of DBL Partners and Susan Kennedy of Advanced Microgrid Solutions. The program will be rounded out with a debate on carbon capture and storage as well as panels on international climate policy post-Paris, the future of natural gas, the dynamic sector of distributed energy, and the future of transport.
