Charting Out Life and Career Goals by Asking "Why?"

Pam spent the weekend with GRID Alternatives Colorado for their annual WE Build Women's Retreat. On Saturday night, Pam facilitated a career development workshop that helped participants at all levels of their career explore and map out the deeper sense of purpose that drives their life and career and how to turn that in to action and progress toward goals.

The Results?

Each participant spent time reflecting on the values that underpin their life and career journey and connect that to the actions and decisions they live every day. In the second part of the program, participants used a template to begin to put words to why they take the actions they take, what values they live by, and how that will play out in the decisions they will make on a short term, medium term, and long term basis to reach life and career goals they have. Each participant took turns in their small group presenting their reflections and getting clarifying questions, feedback, and advice from their team. All participants left with a 2 day, 2 week, 2 month plan and a deeper empathy for the hard work it takes to ensure that your life and work is truly reflected in your deeper values.

Hear it From Attendees:

"Pam has an incredible ability to get people to engage in really meaningful conversations and thought-exercises that mean they really participate in and get something out of the sessions she leads." - Meghan Nutting, VP of Government Affairs, Sunova

"It was an enriching experience and I was happy to be part of it. I am happy to report we have kept in touch with our accountability buddies (my intern Erica and I have kept in touch with our Colorado buddies). You are a catalyst for change." - Laura Galavis, Project Manager, GRID Alternatives

Participants during the workshop dig deeper, asking one another "what are the deeper values that drive your life and career choices?"
