Man Hand-Tows EV from Niagara Falls to Toronto to Raise Sustainable Transportation Awareness
Beginning on April 10th, after clocking over 22,436 miles, crossing ice roads, and breaking scores of electric vehicle records, XOF1 (Power of One), a solar-powered electric vehicle returns to Ontario where it was built only to be shunned from primary roads. The laws governing New and Alternative Vehicles in Ontario forbid XOF1 to drive on its public roads. Though the vehicle tops out at 85mph, other elements of the vehicle’s construction, like its low weight (less than 660 lbs including the driver) cause it to fall in the Low Speed Vehicle classification. Now, primary project architect Marcelo da Luz is hand-towing the vehicle nearly 100 miles from Niagara Falls, NY to Toronto, ON in a campaign to inspire real and positive changes towards sustainable energy in transportation. Themes from the Greentech Media Solar Summit: LCOE, Reliability, Scalability, and Utility Interoperability
Greentech Media’s Solar Summit, held March 14 and 15 in Palm Springs, CA, was not your average solar industry event.
